System shocks long awaited remake

Nightdive Studio has been working on a remake of System Shock for some time. The game was first announced in 2016. It was originally planned to launch in the summer of 2016, but it will now be available in 2022.

Nightdive hasn't yet set a release date. Prime Matter was announced as the publisher for the game, which will be available on PC and other unspecified platforms. The first-person adventure takes place on an abandoned space station and requires players to survive a hostile AI named SHODAN as well as the dangers lurking aboard. This 1994 original game is widely regarded as a classic, and pioneer in story-driven first person action games.

Nightdive also released new screenshots. You can see them in the gallery below.

In February, System Shock's PC demo was updated and is still available for download via Steam, Epic Games Store, GOG, or GOG. Nightdive describes it as the last demo before the full game's release.

Although the wait is still ongoing, some updates are better than none (unlike System Shock 3). A live-action System Shock TV series is also in development.
